RED Compliance
TSC Auto ID products comply with the requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). All RED compliance documentation is encompassed within the CE Declaration of Conformity.
RED is a regulation under the CE marking framework specifically for radio equipment. It emphasizes the requirement for robust cybersecurity measures to prevent data breaches and system intrusions, alongside compliance with safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and spectrum usage standards. Meeting these criteria is mandatory for radio equipment to obtain the CE mark and legally enter the EU market.

In compliance with the latest Radio Equipment Directive (RED), and as a part of implementing the latest cybersecurity solution, TSC Auto ID and Printronix printers have enhanced their default security settings. Specifically, the PRTSecure feature is configured to “Strict” mode by default for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region to ensure that devices are secured prior to the first network connection. This enhancement may impact the initial out-of-the-box setup and user experience, as certain TCP/IP raw ports, such as MDM connection ports used by TSC Console Web, SOTI, and 42Gears, are disabled by default. Please refer to the enclosed “RED Network Connection Setup Reminder” included in the product packaging, or follow the steps provided in the link below to modify the default PRTSecure settings if required.
